The Buyer is responsible for negotiating vendor contracts on behalf of business units, with a primary focus on low spend and low complexity purchases. Negotiations include contract terms and pricing. This role requires the Buyer to work with the business unit to understand requirements for vendor contract renewals and new vendor engagements, along with more senior negotiators for routine purchases against complex contracts which have already been negotiated. The Buyer must possess capabilities to identify, communicate, and implement supply-base opportunities to achieve the best solution for the firm through a mix of cost savings, cost avoidance, and risk mitigation strategies.
