Job Summary

The Global Strategic Sourcing Lead is responsible for developing and leading sourcing strategies, practices and processes that will support the organization's world class purchasing organization globally. This position will manage a matrixed sourcing team responsible for driving sourcing initiatives regionally and/or globally. This position will directly manage one or more categories with an estimated annual spend in excess of $300M.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for setting the strategic and tactical direction for sourcing efforts regionally and/or globally and ensuring integration with Avient business vision and strategy.
  • Effectively lead, hire, develop and enable the sourcing organization to achieve strategic objectives in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Responsible for the establishment of a framework for supplier competitive analysis, performance metrics, research techniques, sourcing strategies, risk mitigation and contract management.
  • Represent Sourcing Organization and Business Unit Leadership Teams.
  • Understand and monitor key spending trends, cost drivers, market factors, geographic considerations, and strategic importance of critical commodities in order to implement appropriate sourcing strategies. Ensures lowest total cost of sourcing operations.
  • Manage and facilitate all facets of the procurement activities, including vendor evaluations, audits and continuous improvement process for all suppliers.
  • Develop metrics, including external benchmarks, to monitor performance and allow for data driven decision making. Ensure that metrics and performance measurements are directly tied in and support the corporate objectives and performance indicators.
  • Locate, analyze, develop and maintain a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs of all purchased materials and services.
  • Partner and collaborate with other functions to support strategic goals for sourcing materials, equipment and/or services.
  • Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process by leveraging Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Leverage best-in-class sourcing management processes and techniques.
  • Develop, monitor and control departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Master's degree in Supply Chain, Operations or related is preferred.
  • 7+ years of related experience is required.
  • Proven history of success leading teams and projects.

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong analytics capability with experience in SAP and business analytics.
  • Experience in sourcing strategy development and execution.
  • Sense of urgency: bias for taking action.
  • A high level of motivation, discipline mindset, and self-starting capability required to achieve aggressive expectations.
  • Outstanding communication skills. Proven track record of effectively collaborating with supply chain functions and company stakeholders across the larger organization.
  • Proven ability to build enduring professional relationships with local partners and service providers leading to outstanding performance.
  • Strong customer focus and a track record of delivering best in class service levels.
