Channel Seed Distribution Manager


As the Channel Distribution Manager you will lead the development of the overall short and long term distribution strategy for the Channel Brand Seedsmen distribution model. You will be expected to develops tactics, programs and KPIs to drive and measure success among independent Seedsmen distribution points. To be successful in the role you will Build and lead a team to execute the recruitment, development, and compensation programs for Channel Seedsmen. This role will be a hybrid role sitting in St. Louis, MO and reports to the Channel & Regional Brands Marketing Lead.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Channel Distribution Manager, are to:

  • Provide direction and leadership in the development, refinement and implementation of the annual brand plan and marketing strategies with an emphasis on our go-to-market strategy and Seedsmen programs (Seedsman are independent retailers that sell exclusively Channel Seed);
  • Lead a team of 4-6 filed based Distribution Development Managers (DDMs) who execute the recruitment, onboarding, training and development of Channel Seedsmen;
  • Manage the development, and communication of key Seedsman/distribution strategies to earn preferred partner status and to promote the brand experience;
  • Work In collaboration with Regional Marketing and participate in the development and implementation of brand and go-to-market strategies to enable Long Range Planning (LRP) targets;
  • Lead development and execution of Seedsman compensation strategy in collaboration with finance, regional marketing, product management, and field sales;
  • Collaborate to define, create and implement year-round Seedsmen development plans;
  • Lead the development of Seedsmen requirements and review performance annually;
  • Collaborate with brand team members, field sales, regional marketing, technology, agronomy, program management, (Information Technology) IT, integrated marketing managers, other functions and external agencies to effectively develop and activate the go-to-market plan;
  • Support all go to market decisions and direction with relevant data and insights such as defining, obtaining and utilizing market research data and Salesforce sales data;
  • Monitor key performance metrics (KPIs) to track brand performance and make adjustments to plan as needed;
  • Manage pool of resources to attract, develop, and maintain high quality Seedsmen/distribution points across the US;
  • Facilitate cross-brand activities to further the Bayer portfolio approach.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Minimum 10 years of business experience in relatable sales and/or marketing/roles;
  • Strong understanding of distribution channel and relevant markets;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;
  • Understanding of key profit and loss (P&L) components/drivers;
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute promotional programs that increase brand equity;
  • Proficiency in competitive assessment and brand portfolio management;
  • Solid understanding and ability to use the marketing mix;
  • Strong understanding of distribution/Channel and relevant markets;
  • Ability to lead and influence activities of cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment;
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills;
  • Proficiency to build measurement system to track plan effectiveness and facilitate plan adjustments as needed.
